In the trial version you get a virtual keyboard/touch-screen interface that makes it very easy to operate, even for a beginner.
In fact the import feature is so easy to use that I almost recommend that you install the free trial version of TablEdit, the preferred program to use to import midi data. If you're wondering how it can import midi files from your computer, that's a minor issue but still a very important feature in my opinion.
